Re: Microtech Clone OTF Auto

Furcs: The difference is really subtle. If you're lucky you can get an OFW that's nice and tight - if you're not there's a bit of play. W MF seems to be a company, unlike Boker, Hubertus and Linder, whose specialty is more in kitchen knives. They sure did a nice job on the paratroopers though. Again...

The Titan that you sent the link to is WAY WAY better that the knife that's the subject here. The extra money for the Titan(which is made in Taiwan) is very well spent. I have both. The Titan is a knife that you can actually use and even nicer than the Taiwan Lightning. JB

Re: Microtech Clone OTF Auto

I've carried a Lightning everyday for about a year now with excellent service. I just disassembled it, lubed it with graphite, painted it with polyurethane paint and put it back into my pocket (after the paint dried), for anothe year or so - I hope. With both the Lightning and the new Microtech clon...

I wish I'd asked you before I got one of these. You're right - they're not nearly as nice as a Lightning. The Best! JB

Scarab clone vs. Triton/ Ranger clone

Does anyone know the difference between the Microtech Triton clone (also known as the Ranger I & II - I think) and the Microtech Scarab clone (the one with the parachute on the clip - know sometimes as the Thunder)? Those who sell the Scarab / Thunder claim that the quality is impressive and the pri...

Jarvis & Al:

I think you're right about the scales - they look more like faux jigged bone. There's a small crack at one of the pins too. When it first appeared, there was a Buy It Now of (I think) $325. It is marked G. GRAFRATH-SOLINGEN. It looks nice. Do you suspect a fake, Al ?? JB

eBay German Paratrooper Knife

It seems like after eBay's layoffs there is a nice selection of German Paratrooper knives. The watch dog staff must be cut back. This knife is very interesting. Does anyone know anything about it. My guess is that it is just a German gravity knife but it does look like a really nice one. Check it ou...

Re: LL80 gravity knife question

Great idea Al - how about a horizontal, bolster out, cross draw holster? You could grasp it with your thumb and forefinger by the indents on the bolster to draw. JB

Re: LL80 gravity knife question

xfootdoc: With the blade in the handle, release the black front bolster by pushing the small square button and pulling the bolster straight off, then sissor the handle to expost the blade. Don't try to slide the blade forward simply pull it from the channel. Take a look at the pic. JB http://i125.ph...
