Re: what was wrong?

It was a hard work. But I'm very pleased with the result. I took the whole knife apart and grinded the polsters and the scales a little down. I also filed the liners a little bit from right to left. Then I put it together and polished all. I didn't use any new material. Now it weighs more then 1 oun...

Re: what was wrong?

Thank you for the hint. It works and now I can close the blade whitout rubbing! But I decided to replace the liners with thin steel liners to reduce the weight. A friend of mine told me that I can harden the steel liners, when I head it a little (until they become a little blue) and then dip in to c...

Re: what was wrong?

Thanks all! More minds, more ideas! The only thing that I can do is to file an angle at the place of the blade which the blade contacs with the point of button. To channel or "swiss-cheese" the liners is too late, but I keep the idea for my next project. Indeed the liners makes the knife also a litt...

what was wrong?

Hello, Here is a switchblade that I made self. The liners and bolsters are from brass; the scales from coloured and stabilized pakka wood. I took the blade of a lock back pocket knife and rounded with grinder the end of the blade so that it can open without friction. The lock back is powered by a se...

Re: Cheapest, ugliest, crappiest, junkiest switchblade you own?

Hello,

here is my cheapest... The blade is locked only by this ridiculous thin metal-piece!
I guess, this is the cheapest way to give the impression of a locked blade

Re: a few toys and a knife

The "russian" knife is also called "soviet switchblade" in The Automatic Knife Resource Guide and Newsletter. There is a very poor information abot this knife. It is not "oriental" made (its material is very unusuall for 'oriental' knifes) but it's also not made from AK-parts... This informations ar...

Re: a few toys and a knife

Thank you all! I also heard that the russian knife made from AK parts. But I also don't believe that, maybe at the beginning it was really so... The knife with black handle and brass bolsters is a custom lockback side opener. It's build from Mikov spring, Italian button and from the blade of a good ...

a few toys and a knife

Hello, This are my first pictures from my whole collection. When I saw the expensive and high end knifes unter the topic blade pictures, I thought it is better to post my pictures here (sorry for the bad quality of pictures!). My favorit knife is, of course, Glock! Vagrant, maybe you know more than ...

I don't know, how to use a nail like a rivet. The rivets are soft but the nail isn't. So it isn't possible to work on a nail with a hammer - like on a rivet.
How can I fix the button assembly with a nail on the liner?

liners from aluminium?

Hello, my 11“ stiletto has brass liners with 0,8 mm thickness. It's a cheap mass product... Actually is brass generally not a bad material; it don’t rust and it’s easy to work on it. But this liners are very thin and they make the knife very unsolid. I want to make new liners for this knife from alu...

Is it possible to repair this small lever?

Hello Guys, I bought a few months ago from a guy in flea market this small leverlock. The blade is only a little longer as 2,5". It is a used one and have some blade play. Besides the blade can’t be closed completely. It stays always a few milimeter open. However it is a very nice toy with a strong ...

"fish tape"? Which size/diameter? Is it strong enough to open the blade? Can give a link with picture?

I transform a classical lockback-folder in a classical auto. I'm not finished it yet and using only simple tools... One of the most difficult things is the spring. I need two springs (a small one for the lock and a big one for the blade) and I think, there is no other possibility than to use the spr...
