Re: Posts

Just a skim of wet slushy stuff here. Great weather for duck hunting. I can hear the shotguns from the marsh out back the house.

That's painted so the jerk you're tailgating with all your lights and siren going can read in his rearview mirror what you are about and hopefully GTF out of your way.

Re: What else do you collect?

Here's a nice little Howitzer I stumbled across the other day Bill; sure wish it was mine. http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showthread.php?t=27050 Got a couple of old guns, many old/antique swords/spears etc from all over the world except Japan. I dug a lot of antique bottles as a kid; still have most ...

Re: New Knives

There is lots of modern damascus out there and not too expensive.
Check Ebay for Damascus knife blade. Most of it comes from India or Pakistan.

Thanks John, I already have one. 8)
I was just curious about whether the makers routinely only make one run of a certain design; is this a common occurrence ?

Campolin/Lepre Black Widow

What are the chances that these guys will make another run of this knife?
I get the impression from the shellpuller thread that this is not always a certain thing with the Maniago cutlers.

Re: Old Singer sewing machine

My Wife (seamstress) tells me you have a 'walking foot' sewing machine there. A walking foot is a mechanism for feeding the workpiece through a sewing machine as it is being stitched. It is most useful for sewing heavy materials where needle feed is mechanically inadequate, for spongy or cushioned m...

Re: Old Singer sewing machine

The gold decals look about perfect; those old machines can be pretty heavy.
How do I know?
The Missus is a seamstress for 40 years; thank the lord she's stopped collecting 'em.
She's pretty good at fixing the things too.

Nice resto Kwackster!

Re: Hair Trigger

I like the pattern, the file work and blade profile.
The scales are a bit gaudy, but the ivory insert fits well.
Blade is dated 2011.
Someday I'd like to have real mother of pearl scales on it.
