Re: Quality

Decriminalizing here at state and federal levels might give the industry a shot in the arm. I'd love to own one of the Sardinian knives but the gamble of sending that amount of money there with no guarantee it would get through customs here makes it a big nope for me.

Re: Quality

I know I'm wandering of topic a bit but; I get the impression that all OTF's have a safety mechanism meaning that if you put the knife against something like a cardboard box and push the trigger it will stop and not penetrate the box. IMO this renders them about on the same level of usefulness as a ...

Re: Quality

How are Italian stilettos manufactured? I've always wondered about this. Are they manufactured in a production line; or is it piece work where one person fits and assembles all the component parts to a finished product?

Re: Unusual Elosi

Fascinating to see such weirdness..... I wonder what the thought process was behind the concept: "Hey, I have a great idea! Let's invent a one-hand knife* that requires two hands to open!" LOL (Literally "Einhandmesser" in Deutsch) Yeah, that was a wait, what? Moment for me too. Great looking knife!

Re: Tang Stamps

Thank you for the details. Quaero, much appreciated. :)
I think I'll make him an offer to buy both the Eig and the Shur-Snap. The first time he showed them to me he offered to just give them to me.

It would be nice to have a pre-ban knife in my small collection. 8)

Re: Switchblade Collecting

It was 1960 and I was 14 years old when the town cop confiscated my first one. I got a talking to at the station for that sin. Since then I've had a few over the years. Got re-interested a year or so ago lurking here and bing!
I got bit.

Re: Tang Stamps

Dunno 'bout that; he'd been shot at a few times during his tenure, and he always carried a snubby whether at work or not.

Re: Tang Stamps

You're welcome!
I wonder if the EIG could be called transitional as it's quite slim.
Any ideas on dating the EIG?
Also is polish and restoration a good idea with vintage stilettos or is it a no-no and will affect the value in a negative way?

Re: Tang Stamps

Would love to see the knives these stamps belong to. As requested. The EIG is an 11 inch picklock w/horn scales and two piece spring. A drop or two of Hoppe's gun oil got it loosed up enough to fire fairly quickly. The horn seems in pretty good shape; the blade has some side to side wiggle and a bi...

Re: Tang Stamps

I'll try to talk him into letting me take them home so I can do 'portraits' of them both for you.
Thanks to all. :)

Tang Stamps

Can one (or more) of you well versed collectors share your knowledge on these two tang stamps please ? I've heard of Shur Snap, but EIG is a new one for me. If you could possibly date them approximately I'd love to know. They belong to a friend who is a retired psychologist for troubled kids in the ...

Re: Need more Pictures

I'd EDC one if I didn't know the minions of the law would lift my LTC if I got caught with it.
They are consistently well made; good quality control; thanks for your efforts Bill. 8)
