Bonz,

Speaking of 3 dollar bills, I'm going on a fishing trip to the Florida Keys in 2 weeks (in case it is not common knowledge in California, Key West = San Francisco East).

I agree that there is no one best auto, even if consideration is given to the purpose for which the knife will be used. Having written this, I will now give my opinion. Stilettos are the prettiest by far and represent (at least to me) the essence of switchblades. Leverlocks represent a clasic design...

Vagrant,

Thanks for the update. Is there a problem with counterfeit German knives, or can we reasonably assume if a knife is etched with a known German brand (eg Hubertus, Kissing Crane) and purchased from a reliable supplier, that it is the real thing?

Crunch, AB and SKM are the same company. F. Beltrame and AKC round out the "big 3" Maniago stiletto companies, or at least sellers. They are competitors, more or less. My experience is that none of the three can be considered the best or the worst. I may have just started a war. However, one thing t...

Vagrant,

With all of your mechanical experience and expertise I see you as a potential knifemaker. Have you ever given it a try?

The Hubertus Guardian has a similar style and is a very high quality switchblade. However, it is more expensive.

Roccomo,

Same for me, the 8 in Segifreid. Mine is a white acrylic AB/SKM and bears the rare and valuable "Vagrant Knives" etching.

Hollowdweller,

I haven't been to any of the shows yet. Lefty and I learned that we live only a few miles from each other and plan to meet at the next show in Winston Salem. He indicated that there are some switchblades there.

Hollowdweller, Seems that you have an enviable living location and lifestyle. Years ago I spent a lot of time in some rural areas of your homestate enjoying some of what I perceived to be the finer things of life. However, there were no switchblades involved. Had I owned some switches, it would have...

The SKM site has a state-by-state breakdown in their Q & A (or whatever it is called) section.

Tessa3,

I don't know who will win but I certainly doubt that it will be the USA. Soccer is steadily gaining popularity in the USA, but it comes nowhere close to having the support it does in Merry Olde. One good thing, I just learned that my son's soccer coach for next season is from the UK!

Yes, Rocc, leverlocks are much more functional than stilettos. Yes, Vini, stilettos are MUCH prettier. My daily carry is now a seigfreid leverlock, a rare and valuable SKM/Vagrant Knives model.

Vagrant, You drive a rare car, at least in 2002 it is rare. I have no idea about you and fast women. If not quoted in the press, you are at least quoted by saltwater fishermen from Md. to Fla., and beyond. As far as politics goes, the state to the south of you needs politicians like you, but probabl...
