Re: Drop-top switchblade
These are two Frank Bs I picked up cheap at the Mystic show a few years back. The seller did not have the springs. They are well made knives.

Re: Drop-top switchblade
The kits sell out quickly as they are in demand. The Edge Co has nail nicks because they were all imported with no springs in them and to give the appearance they were manual knives. There were others that also had these imported the same way, so this may or may not be a Edge Co one.

Re: Tarry Levigne
They are collectible for the tang stamp. Quality wise, they are made in Italy and are similar to other Italian stilettos. Mark is a good guy as you stated. His prices are a bit higher than they use to be on comparable items with other dealers, but with items like these, there is little to compare ...

Re: Drop-top switchblade
As Bill said these were sold with "sex" pins that fit into each other after you insert the spring. The idea was to allow import of this type of knife. The newer kits are a bit different as to pin location, but take a look at these:

I mostly bought these in Horn. I bought some of the wood. The dark wood was the better of the two woods I recall being offered.

Great knife and thanks for the history! I do think it is true that the younger collectors are more interested in modern type knives, but there are still a lot of collectors and I always see collectors of Civil War items and re enactments all the times, so I do think there will always be interest....

Re: 11" rosewood
Nice !! I have the exact one and two in a darker wood. I got them all from Barry Adams in the early 1990s. I always thought of them as good user models.
