Re: Picklock with side to side blade play
To make it clear: it has left-right and vice versa movement. Sure, peening the locking pin would solve the problem, but without heat it would only damage the blade. A complete resoftening and hardening will be necassery afterwards.

Picklock with side to side blade play
I have a rostfrei stamped picklock with a slip-in spring, probably made in the late 60s. It has a notable side-to-side blade play. Of course but 3knives Knifeshop says, it's "an amazing idea by Italian master cutler Ottonello Roberto."Bill DeShivs wrote: ↑Sun Oct 23, 2022 7:13 pm The tri-fold design is even older than that!
I believe KaBar made one in the 1950s.

Triple folder in Italy new invented
It seems that a knife maker came up with a very original idea, went to the patent office and registered the old triple folder as his own design  . https://www.knifeshop.com/en/product/5668/italian_gravity_knife_cu-77.html As I know this exact same design was marketed by the french knife maker F...

Re: Union Cut Co. lever lock made by Henckels!
Very interesting. I always wonder where exaclty the leverage point of those old levers is. Because it seems to lean on the scale pins of you press the lever. In that case the scales should get damaged soon or later.

I think those sclaes are a work of a prop maker. Movie props are often heavily modified.

Re: Picklock sharpening fails
Not the "bayonet" but the "standard" blade could be sharpened a little. Since the blade is very narrow, the blade losts very quick its original shape after resharpening.

Re: 3knives.com, my experience...
I sent the knife back and got the refund, so far the problem has been solved for me. What they make with those knife is up to them, but it was definitly not a simple "oiling" problem. In fact I putted a little oil on it and that made it only worst. There was just too much friction between the bolste...

Angelo contacted me today and sent me the refund. They are very fast with shipping but I still think they need better quality control.
