And Brent Holm (Tydy).
There are younger people in the hobby. More will probably get into older knives, because they are much more interesting than the modern stuff.

It pains me greatly to tell you that we lost Walt Sunday. He had been ill for quite some time, but whenever anyone talked to him he was always positive and sounded full of energy.

Re: Drop-top switchblade
That rear pin holds the spring in.
The knife is not "convertible" per se.
It was sold without the spring installed. Once installed, the rear pin has to be removed to take the spring out.

Re: 9 inch AGA swinger won't stay closed 😢
A loose pivot can cause a hair trigger. Of course worn sear/sear hole. Weak button spring. Handles swelling and impeding button return. Worn sear hole in liner.
When I do a rebuild, I try to address as many of these items as possible/applicable. Doing so generally makes them stay shut well.

That particular handle pattern was made in stainless steel, nickel silver and sterling silver.
It causes a lot of confusion.

What is "lesser quality steel?
Knife steel needs to be hard, yet flexible and tough. It should take and hold a good edge. Any steel with around .01% carbon is adequate. There are exotic steels that claim to do everything better.

Re: TRIANGOLO staghorn
What you have is a steel-lined Triangolo. These knives have steel liners and bolsters that are chrome plated. It is an early, desirable knife to collectors.
The steel lined knives have somewhat of a cult status as more durable than conventional brass/nickel silver knives. There is some truth to that ...
