I think the fort knives are made in Taiwan, but I could be wrong.
I do know the owner of Fort tries to have quality items built.
Everyone hates to have knives made in Asia, but truthfully-this knife would cost at least $250 if made in the US.

For a while, Hubertus used a material that wasn't quite brass-and wasn't quite nickel silver. It polished up and looked almost like nickel silver, but it tarnished and looked brassy.
A copper alloy probably with lower amounts of zinc and nickel.

Still waiting for some verification that the Medici copies in automatic were made before 1999- or were ever made with D stamped liners.

Probably so. A lot of the older imitation stag used on German knives was celluloid.
Just keep an eye on it. If the pins start tarnishing a weird shade or if you detect any rust on the steel liners, get the handles off.

Celluloid is unstable.
That said, the celluloid used on these knives seldom exhibits the deterioration found on thicker celluloid handles.
It's good to keep an eye on it, anyway.

"Transitional" stilettos are much harder to pin down. They have traits of the old picklocks and of modern stilettos.

I have several here that were from the first run. They do not have D stamped liners. I have more parts in the shop-none are D stamped. I have worked on quite a few, and none have been D stamped. Merlin and I got some of the first unassembled "kit" knives.

Once you get leaf springs figured out, they are easy to make.
