Seriously, horn should be kept out of direct sunlight, away from temperature extremes, and kept waxed. I may have to do some experimentation, here.

Your Edwin Jay was imported by the Edwin Jay Hoffritz co. They dropped the "Hoffritz" around WW2. The scales should be a pearlescent celluloid overlay. The knife was made by Coricama in Maniago, Italy, before the mid-1960s. The Mauro Mario was made in Maniago in the early 1950s by Maurio Elso (sp?),...

Jim I, too have had the same quandary for years! Does the UDT have a safety? I got a UT-6, but it's really too big for EDC. I may just have to build myself a small leverlock with drop point ATS 34 or 440 blade and Micarta scales. The Hubertus 8cm is close, but I don't like the clip blade. Need a pen...

If the knife is cleaned out, remove as much of the lubricant as possible. I have no answer, here. My experience has to do with mostly stainless. I have one old carbon blade that stays sharp (15-20 years), others just get dull sitting there, and most are stainless! Maybe something with the Martensite/Austentite stuff?

Although a properly heat treated spring should not take a set, I have never seen a knife spring break unless it was under pressure.
