Re: Hubertus Z2000 Auto Knife

.

I didn't know that Hubertus marketed anything other than their classic lever-open pieces with natural scales.
Never seen a modern-styled Hubertus with synthetic scales. Did the Hubertus shop actually make it themselves?

Re: I know that I posted this the other day, but...

. I just can't bear to inflict any damage on a knife that I like.... I can't even bring myself to sharpen it. My go-to Knife Guy carries a $400 (manual) folder that's a real beast -- he could probably cut his way out of a cargo ship with it -- and he uses it all the time... but I can't bring myself ...

Red ~ How about a few more photos? I'd be interested to see the scales and other details.
Are the guards lined? How old do you think this piece is? It's an interesting find....

Re: busse knives

I just looked at Busse and they aren’t showing this particular knife for sale any more: https://www.bussecombat.com/knives/

I guess it was a good investment; scroll down in this thread for commentary on current value:

Re: West German GRAVITY knife

. JPD ~ What is the OAL of your knife? I find it interesting that the spike is non-reflective but the blade isn't...! It's also interesting that the bolster catch is a little different..... and that your bolster doesn't have the cord-puller on the bottom. At least that's what it appears to be..... p...

Re: West German GRAVITY knife

Yep..... in fact, If you squint at the caption of that photo, you will see that it contains the word "marlinspike" - - the spike is
not pointy enough for my taste, but I suppose that it's better than nothing if you need to separate some tangled paracord.

Re: Vintage "EIG" pick locks

. Yeah, but that seems more like "impossible to find" -- on a scale of 1 to 10 it's probably about a 9.75 or something.... Assuming that an ordinary 9" Latama in average condition is a 3 on the scale of easy-to-hard discovery of vintage knives (with an unbranded INOX being a 2, and a wobbly Rizzuto ...

Re: West German GRAVITY knife

. Tom ~ I’ve been thinking about my gravity knife, and have come up with three possibilities: 1. It was made for the general market, and anybody could buy one. 2. Although not actual issue, availability was restricted to servicemen; and it was sold in PXs to any serviceman that wanted one. 3. It was...

I should have thought of that 'AES' meaning.... now I feel like Darren McGavin in "A Christmas Story" -- "ragile..... must be Italian!" https://www.achristmasstoryhouse.com/a-christmas-story-movie-facts/cast-and-crew/where-are-they-now/ jerry, thanks for that cautionary tale.... Re: West German GRAVITY knife

. Thanks Bill ~ I thought it was a cool find too.... do you know what the 'AES' on the handle stands for? All I can think of is something along the lines of "American European Services" or something similar...? I am assuming that the "83" stands for the year that this particular model was designed o...
