Re: "M Italy" eBay Treasure

The pics aren't great, but it appears to be one of the best specimens of M.ITaly out there. I got a Kriss a while ago at the Gator show, but that was 11 inch. I really like the rear scale. Too bad there still remains some questions about what M.Italy was.

Re: Frank Beltrame hole in the blade

Not sure I like it, I wonder if he will do it to Walt's stuff... Luckily I'm pretty much done collecting things from Frank, got everything I want, basically - unless more 9inch picklocks turn up somewhere at a price reasonable enough for a pauper like me - both of which are highly unlikely.

Re: Frank Beltrame hole in the blade

Kind of tough to tell, I'd ask you to hold it up to the light but I guess there's no reason to lie about something like this lol maybe they've improvised some way of buffing them automatically whilst strung on a line or something lol

Re: 11" Mauro Mario- Burl

Well I've always thought Burl was a pretty interesting type of wood, especially since it could really come from any tree. And I've never seen it on a stiletto before. So if the scales bother you and you wanna get rid of it, give m a buzz

Re: 11" Mauro Mario- Burl

Seems like every couple of years a "box of unfinished knives" just appears somewhere in Maniago and it makes me wonder how many random storage rooms and buried stashes there could possibly be in one town.

B.V.&F. Large Stamp

After 2 years and some change, I finally found another BV&F thanks to Chris who tipped me off  It's a 6 inch piece, and pairs real well with my 7 inch - one thing I noticed is that the stamp was considerably bigger than my first find. In retrospect, all BV&F's I've found pictures of have this ...

Re: 13" Mauro Mario

Minty monster!

I wanna say that stamp looks small on it, but maybe it's just a big knife!

Great addition, Chris!

Re: Your oldest Latama?

True, but perhaps the same could be said about picklocks in general. I've yet to see one cloned and wind up on dhgate or ebay or a flea market, although I fear that day is coming. However uncommon, the stigma around that stamp is just marketing, which feels weird to say about a product produced 70+ ...

Re: Your oldest Latama?

Yeah, I mean don't get me wrong, certain subsets of the stamp and bolster or button type are indeed fairly hard to find. But if your goal is to simply acquire any knife from the 50's with the name Latama on it, just walk into a decent-sized knife show with a thousand bucks in your pocket and you'll ...

Re: Your oldest Latama?

My only Latama ... which a good friend Eric (Rock and Roll $$$$) sold to me after my rather disappointing snafu with Walt's "Latamas" in Autumn of 2018. It wouldn't be until February 2019 and a visit to the Gator show that I learned Latamas in general aren't really all that rare, they're just expens...

Frank is still making knives as it is a family affair with him. Is his brother Armando still around?
I hear Armando retired a couple years ago.
