Shredded money scales

Post by Straydog 5247 »

Many years ago I received some shredded money and rattle snake scale acrylic material from a forumite , I believe it was a experiment on his part .
I made 4 knives using this , the shredded money scales were not popular at that time , however , since then I've had a family member begging me to make him a "shredded money knife", I thought of making my own until I realized I don't have the equiptment or knowledge to make 'em , also I believe the guy that made the scales passed on ( I may be wrong) , My question is , Does anybody know where to get "Shredded money scale material" ?

Here's my $0.02

The Bureau of Engraving and Printing used to sell, and maybe still do, bags of shredded bills. Mix some of that with epoxy, mold it into a form of the desired scale, and there you have it.

Use casting acrylic from Hobby Lobby to cast the scales. LMK if you do it this way, and I'll send you a link to the correct casting acrylic.

Hi RonDog,
Kruznn a.k.a. Roger Forsyth might be a person you could contact for this material. I got a few pieces from him that he wasn’t using anymore. So he may know where you can find some already made. Send him a PM or contact him on Facebook.

If you can't post a photo because, “it's acting stupid”, you can send me the photo and I'll post it for you.

Ron you can upload pics directly with the forum attachment feature. No need to screw with photobucket.
