first mikov

Post by worlds oldest roofer »

Thought I would by a cheap beater knife for occasional abuse like cutting open a bundle of shingles so I saw the mikov 241 for 70 bucks and bought one.
I know the subject is old as I found reviews from years ago about weak snap, dull blades etc. but It looks like I have another safe queen! Just too nice to abuse.I have 30 Italians so somthing different. Snaps like a leverletto;sharp+pretty! oh well

If you want a beater try a boker magnum or an ak74. Good users and less money!

Sammy's advice is spot on.
Also look at Ganzo brand knives.

I agree with Bill and Sammy

Ganzos are great user knives and are as "cheap as chips

There are cheaper leverlocks under various guises like the Mikov you can find....they are very sharp and have slip in springs.

The knife I posted pics of is a "Kandar" leverlock I picked up from Poland a couple of years ago .
Its probably chinese ,boker did a leverlock similar to it aswell with a different blade profile.
They sometimes show up on ebay and are great value for money .The scales could easily be changed on them also ....a good inexpensive knife for around 20 dollars.

Hope your well mate

My first Mikov was a bastard step child Mikov must have had with Victorinox sometime before the 1993 split of Czechoslovakia ... not an auto but it's taken quite a beating as a carrier and likely one of the only Mikovs that are carry-legal everywhere in the USA :P

I have both, if your interested send me a pm. Firebirds are the same as Ganzo, I believe they just changed the name for some reason or another. The box they come in is a Ganzo box. I bought a bunch of them because I'm a sucker for a good deal. I got them through Amazon and Power Cutlery before they raised prices.

I would say the Ganzo is probably the best thing going for the money. You won't realize the quality till you handel one of them, you'll be scratching your head trying to figure out how they can sell them in the $20 range.

Sammy,I know what you mean. I bought a 6 and a 12 string Cozart semi hollow tele style guitar off e-bay 6 months ago.The guy sent me the wrong color so gave me a 40 credit so I got both for 187.50! With a little set-up they are just fine. How do they do that so cheap?
I sent you a PM
