Tip for shaping bolsters

Post by McGyver »

Maybe this is common practice, or mit might be a novel idea, I don't know. When your trying to shape pre-drilled/pre-machined bolster, I find clamps and jigs awkward. So I take a pop rivet, and insert it in the hole on the back of the bolster, if there's two holes, I use two. I set the rivet until its snug in the hole, and then use it to hold on to when I am using my belt grinder. If I want to file on it, I stick the rivet pins in the vise and clamp down on those. When I am done, I simply Pop the rivet and then drill off the head. It just makes things easier for me, maybe for you too.
