Microtech Vector

Post by OleRod »

Bill,

Can you tell me the correct names of the screwdriver bits needed for the new (2011) Microtech Vector?

As I am sure you know there are three (3) types of heads:

1 & 2.....A Large and a Small raised triangle above the head.

3 ......A step down series of progressively smaller squares into the head.

Is it possible to buy these bits separately or do you have to buy a kit?

Can you suggest a seller?

Many thank again,

OleRod

Not a clue, except they are not standard fittings. M/T doesn't want anyone opening their knives.

From what I'm seeing the Vector is made with typical torx screws.
However, if your running into those tri-bit screws, then you might need these.

I am no doubt not telling you anything new..

Blade HQ has the smaller "triangle"bit (#2 above) and refers to it as " microtech medium triangle"
socket tool bit".

I am still searching for #1 above.

So far as #3 is concerned ........................I really screwed up .. it is the release button and not a screw. Sooooo.....

just forget I mentioned it (I am trying!! )

Thanks for putting up with me!!

Can you take a picture of the screwheads (I'm usually really good at making makeshift tools for things like that).
I can probably help you out (at least give you some ideas).

A good place for questions on MT screws/bits and such is to ask the folks at http://www.modelandtool.com/Wrenches.html
They also have about the best prices on the bits.

Sorry to hear that
Can I ask a question? Why do you need to take the knife apart? Broken spring?

Try some needle point tweezers or needle nose pliers.

I would think that the typical tri-bit heads would still work on that. (each bit goes between a wing)

I would like to be able to adjust/tighten the screws if ever necessary. Evidently many others are like me in that these bits (and sets) are darn hard to find. Microtech's proprietary attitude is a challenge. If one had paid a few hundred bucks he should have fully control over his knife. Do you not think?
