Some Good Music

Post by Viking45 »

I'm sure everyone has thier own tastes in music but this may appeal to some here.
One night I happened to be thumbing through the channels and came to David Letterman just as Steve Earle was talking about his new album "Townes" after his good friend Townes Van Zandt.
Townes was a great song writer, someone once called him a "wordsmith".

(Townes wote this song)

I happened to catch this song on Letterman one night.

Good songs Viking!
I was watching the pixar movie "Cars" and got into the song called "Our Town" that was written by Randy Newman and sung by James Taylor. It was written for the movie and very powerful! Someone did a video with the song and it came out pretty good. It will make you think of the good 'ole days. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYrGQDZuOic

Nice. That song just wouldn't have the same impact with someone elses voice. JT's got a certain something in his voice that reaches down deep. Good one Chad.

Here are some songs from the Ozark Mountain Daredevils.

OMD's are from my town. Funny thing-this poster is a YouTube friend of mine and he lives in the UK and after I sent him some OMD music he is hooked, says they are his favorite band.
Anyone remember "Jackie blue?" They did that one.

I have seen them about 10/12 times through the years. Always an outdoor event, lots of people from all over, bikers, families etc, always a happy, peaceful time.

We've all heard this one but this is rare footage of these guys. Not sure but I think they are in Sweden here.

Nice and mellow :D very cool!

Viking, have you ever seen the kid who plays piano by ear? His channel is UnclassicalPiano. He has several videos but since "Stairway to Heavy" is well known I will post that one. This kid is amazing...

Chad- Funny thing is I am actually more of a hard rock fan but I like the unusual stuff, not what is played on the radio.
That Steve Earle music really hit me though. I do have a wide range of tastes when it comes to music,I can listen to Dean Martin or the Swedish metal band Opeth  and the funny thing is I have cd's from both

That kid can play the piano eh? Wow. I wish I would have stayed with the guitar,I was too busy chasing girls as a teen to get serious about an instrument. I regret that now.

Yeah I almost posted the live video of Willie and Merle doing that song.
Pretty cool seeing these old-timers together.

MY FAVORITE BAND OF ALL TIME- Thin Lizzy
(Most people don't realize they did so much more than The Boys Are Back In Town)
This is a tune from thier 1972 album Shades Of A Blue Orphanage
The drummer is just awsome in this. Good Old fashioned rock and roll right here.
Phil Lynot does not sing,he tells a story.

One of my faves this next one.I listen to this when I'm working in my garage.

It's never too late to start learning an instrument if you have a passion for it. I didn't start to play the drums until I was 22. I had always wanted to play but my folks wouldn't let me as a kid. When I had been in the Air Force for about four years, I decided to buy a kit and literally took my practicing to the woodshed. I would play 3 hours a day in the middle of summer in Oklahoma. Man, it was hot in that garage but I wouldn't trade it for anything. So if you have that passion, go for it.
