Nice. Is the lock tab back spring made completely from scratch?

Yes, I make the backsprings from the same steel that the blades are made from (almost always 1095). I do the traditional locktab twist. For a while when I started making knives I was intimidated by trying it (I was worried it would break) so I made lockbacks. But then I finally tried it and it isn't too difficult. Just make sure you have the neck area red hot when you do the twisting.
