AGA 10 & 11 inch picklocks

My favorite AGA picklocks. The horn on these is some of the best I've seen. I really like how closely matched they are front and back too. The 11in. is the actual knife in the pics and video on their web site.

JV I believe the scale pins are N/S rather than brass, but I’m not sure about the pivot pin..

I feel the same about the 10's myself Chris. There's just one thing that bugs me about both the 10's and 11''s and that's the step down on the guard bolsters. It's being a little nit picky but I wish they were more defined as on the 13's.

Ya like bone -esque? How about this 13. This is the only one I've seen with that horn on both sides. Sadly the horn on the front has curled away really badly from the liner. I'd like to get that fixed someday ... I just have to win the lottery first.

Those are sweet 13's Stu. Is the one on the right from early the 2000's run? I love how the horn is rounded on the sides like vintage knives.

I like the rounded horn too. I have had some knives rounded . They feel much better in hand. Speaking of bonesce here is a fine sample.

Try clamping it then hit with a heat gun

Thanks for the idea of a heat gun Thom. I've heard of guys putting a knife in an oven but that just scares the crap out of me. I mean an oven...really? With my luck it'd come out looking like a burnt weeny!

I have done both. Oven is scary and didn’t work too good for me. The heat gun was easier and faster.

All the pictured knives look fantastic. Most excellent examples of Italian genius. Thom's suggestion on using a heat gun is the way I would go. I've used an Easy Grip clamp with rubber bumpers and a hair dryer on high heat to reposition some plastic scales. Plastic will go back to its original molded form and stay, if you can get it to move back to the original shape. But I've never done horn. The pic with the horn moving away from the liner looks like the pin may have separated from the liner in addition to any curling. Because of the shadows in the pic it's hard to see if that happened. It's still a beautiful knife even with the separation.

Years ago Bill DeShivs provided a remedy that worked for me for the same problem you have. What I remember is wrapping the horn in an old towel and clamping the horn down into place, then putting it in the oven at what I remember to be a low heat for a while. I forget the exact temperature and time other than the heat was low for an oven and the time was maybe an hour or so. Anyway, the fix worked perfectly.
