David Steel Bali-song Monarch 906?
I was hoping for some help with my newly aquired knife, It has Pacific Cutlery, Seki Japan on the blade. The hanldes have the butterfly on one side in a small square gold shield while on the other has the viper skull with fangs! Handle seems to be black rubber. I wanted to know the model # and anything else about this knife as I have scoured the net and haven;t seen one. As soon as I figure out how to upload photos, I will post some pics! Thanks so much and am looking forward to alot of knife talk!!!

Mr. wikdblades,
I'm not an expert, but I don't think that is a balisong - A butterfly stamp does not a balisong make...

Pacific Cutlery did make folders and usually were made in Japan in early to mid 80's.
They are very high quality knives and I stand to be corrected here but I believe this is where the butterfly stamp/logo originated.
Jody Samson designed a lot of PC's knives.
I remember these knives from the 80's and they were very well made and reasonably priced.
Very nice knife and looks to be in great condition blade-wise.
Seki City Japan is known as the "Solingen" of the East.

If this is true my instincts tell me somewhat collectible perhaps?Viking45 wrote:Pacific Cutlery did make folders and usually were made in Japan in early to mid 80's.

I would say it is quite collectible, especially to Pacific Cutlery collectors.
The thing I recall the most is the shape of the frame, very aggressive and I wanted one when I first saw them back in the 80's.Nothing else looked like this.
There was also a Japanese-made knife company Katz that had some similar style knives. They are still around but their new stuff is nowhere as cool as the stuff from the 80's.
The original Tom Cat by SOG was another great folder from the 80's,in fact I had a knife magazine that featured the Tom Cat and it won "Knife Of The Year" in 1988.
Wish I had an original Tom Cat.
Here are some pics I found of some older Pacific Cutlery folders and an original SOG Tom Cat

Thank You Viking for the Info! I did indeed find some info on this particular knife, it is in deed a Pacific Balisong David Steele Monarch. Just not sure yet of the number, I have found many of the same style but with wooden handles.. This knife is Super Crisp with no blade wobble whatsoever and very mint! I only gave a "C" note for it so its a damn good purchae I think!
