K55K Cat knife
Hey anyone calling himself "Catavengercaptain" needs a "Cat" knife; but do I need three Well I have 2 now and ordered another one. I carried the 1st so much I wore the paint (coating) off it. I didn't want to carry the next one I bought because I figured that would happen again. So I just ordered another so I can carry 1 and keep the other. If anyone have any ideas on how to keep the coating from rubbing off let me know. Only thing I can think of is maybe to carry it in a little sheath instead of my pocket?

I like those. I attach a lanyard to mine and carry it in the back pocket. One of the few "pocket" knives that I carry in the back pocket. I also carry my Douk-Douk the same way, just because of the size, it's not comfortable in the front pockets.
Since there is no change or keys or anything to scratch it up, mine is still pretty nice.
I probably said this before, but I love inexpensive knives with good carbon steel. The K55 fits that description to a T

Hello Cat,
Maybe you can use a screen protector. The same plastic fllm that is used on cellphones. It comes in matt and high gloss.

I have a bunch of these some dating back to the 60s that I got as a kid. I carried them next to my wallet in my right front pocket and had a few scratches but not too many...Great knives!!!!!!

Do you think that's a bad idea? I honestly don't know, but it leaves no glue behind and it seems safe to use. I was thinking that might help prevent the cat from coming off. Do you think a clear lacquer might be better maybe something like clear nail polish? I personally would go with the screen protector.

Clear nail polish sounds like an interesting idea.
Re: K55K Cat knife
What is the scale material? I would tested it on something else first. Although, it should be safe to use; after all women use it on their finger nails which is what horn is made of.catavengercaptain wrote:Clear nail polish sounds like an interesting idea.

The "scale" is steel

That information is interesting but unless I am missing something it doesn't seem to tell what it is made of

Re: K55K Cat knife
The blade is high carbon steel. [I think, somewhere I read, XC75].
The handle is steel, what type, structural or high-carbon
No clue but it really doesn't matter
