Hey Al- check this out! Beretta 21/M4

Post by Bill DeShivs »

I finally got a 4" minx, and the same day I found a 4" Minx barrel on Ebay so.....

Rechambered a .22 short 950 Minx barrel to .22LR, and fitted it to a Beretta Model 21. Had to nickel plate the barrel to match.
One of the few (if not the only) 4" barrel Model 21 pocket plinkers.

Nice, I've been thinking about getting a new .22lr pocket pistol as a host firearm,
I'm either going with a Beretta 21a or a S&W 2213

I like the longer barrel, you'll probably get slightly better performance from it too.
Was there any tricky machining required to get the minx barrel to fit the 21a (other than needing to change the chamber for longrifle)?

Mr. Darkness,

Please to forgive my ignorance, but what is a "host firearm?"

Mr. Darkness,

A host firearm is a gun that entertains other people as guests. :D

But seriously, it is a firearm intended to be used with a suppressor.
I filled out a form 4 and purchased a Huntertown Arms Guadian (gen 2) .22lr suppressor back in February. I'm expecting to get my approved forms back this November or so, the 12th of which is also my 21st birthday.

I've already got a .22lr GSG 1911 but I want something a little smaller for that James Bond / secret agent feel.

Nice one. Puzzling why Beretta never offered the longer barrel option which would make it more desirable for plinking. Would seem an easy thing to do.

Since Beretta got a taste of the "big money" with the US service pistol contract, they have cared very little about US consumers.
They now cater to military and law enforcement.

You just bought it because it had "Dan" stamped on it. 8)

Early this morning I was at the local gun shop and my buddy said the exact same thing about Baretta, they don't have interest in a line of plinker toys because of the military contract and there is just too much competition in that field. Every company out there is making AR style 22's(including Baretta) and Ruger still has the 22 pistol world dominated.

Still I love this little Baretta of Bills.
I miss my old Browning 22 auto (I think it may have been called a Challenger?)
Al told me once but I have had a drink or two since then.
My brother had borrowed it and it was lost when his home burned down a few years ago.It was Belgian made.

This Frommer 1901(Hungarian) takes home the Blue Ribbon for the "Ugliest Gun Award"
Not only is it goofy looking it spits out a .32 Roth round that is as pathetic as the pistol is ugly.

Mr. Viking,

Heh, I bought that .44 because I got one helluva deal on it. The ultimate hand cannon. I used to have the Browning Challenger II. Very sweet piece. I traded it and some cash for a S&W .357 model 19. I picked up a S&W 22A as a replacement for the Browning and what a certified POS that thing turned out to be. The receiver blew apart, but it should have taken the abuse, I mean just 22LR. I'll get some pics of that mess when I get a chance. I've been wondering if anybody has had any bad experience with the 22A.

Best regards,

Bonz
