Help me ID this trench weapon
The previously owner told me that the spike was made to penetrate a helmet.
It has a knuckle guard with 4 pyramid spikes. It is heavy it weight at least 500gramms.
The helmet spike can be unscrewed. It seems well made and not something improvised. Does anyone have more information about this thing? Any help is appreciated! windows print screen windows print screen
Think I get the ideal now. The knuckle duster part has two alternative tips, one sharp and one rounded? Or do they mount to opposite ends? The sharper one has that twist, like a self tapping screw, as if it could drill in.

Just realized that there aren't two tips, that's an end view.
This looks like something an enterprising machinist would make to carry into the trenches, or in support of a loved one going to the trenches.
A lot of it is metal lathe work, the knurling, threading, tapering, the small pins ... But then you add a milling machine to slot the point, shape the knuckle duster part, perhaps slot the handle to mate with a tang on the duster, then force the tang into the handle under pressure (called swedging).
It looks WWI vintage (They called it "the Great War". "WWI" is a more recent term, came in around WW II.)
My guess is that is small production, handmade, American or German.

Yes the opposite side (not pictured) is chambered for the spike. It can only be inserted spike out.
I have searched the internets for more info on this thing but haven´t found anything. So any information or suggestions is appreciated!
Interesting,I have never seen anything like it. Very nasty looking and well made,the machine work is superb.
