I NEVER use "live bait"
A mini tackle box with a few lures works fine  And, stays fresh even if you leave it in a jacket pocket over the winter :!:

NO Trout in the brook :( but the "panfish lures" I use work on almost eveything; sunfish, pearch, pickerel, shiners, you name it.
[They were dynamite on Trout in Colorado] :!: :D
An hour ago, I watched this shiner pick one up and swim away before I set the hook, guess he really wanted it

I stand corrected after one Trout [caught 2x] in 14 years I got another at about 7:30 p.m. Sat. 8)
About a 13" - 14" Brook Trout
Returning it safely to the stream and away from Rommel meant NO pic :(

Great looking stream. Is that behind your house? I live on Long Island, NY. I try and go fresh water fishing 30 or more times a year. There are a fair amount of lakes and ponds here and they stock three near by with about 2,000 trout each lake. Lot of panfish, bass and pickeral also....what lure do you find the best on panfish? I have always been a live bait/corn/dough fisherman, but the last five years I have found the Mepps spinners work well on Trout, Crappie, and bass.....

Small spinner baits, like Beetle spin, spinners like the Vibrax, those are good for panfish and I've caught 30" lake trout with the larger vibraxes.
I'm really a Largemouth/Smallmouth fan, so spinnerbaits, plastic worms, jig and pig combos, plugs, jerkbaits, top waters, etc.......................... I could go on and on. The worms and grubs, crawfish, lizards made by Berkeley (Power Bait) are fantastic for bumping over structure for bass.
