I believe they changed the name to one word
Snagged this info off ebarf -
Weidmannsheil closed its doors in 1991.
and this was made by them -
No, it isn't for sale

Re: Weidmanns Heil Folding Bayonet / Dagger ??
NOT a Bayonet
It's a "Boar Knife/Pigsticker" [Saufanger].
Used closed for most puposes, used open to "finish-off" a WOUNDED Wild Boar
No second shots you "wade in and do it like a MAN"
SKM listed an Italian made one [last time I checked] and I have a Spanish one [made for the French market and etched "Laguiole"]
Age ?? I'll guess the '50s [but may be pre war].
Value ? Whatever you can get but, I wouldn't take less than $175 under any circumstances

Re: Weidmanns Heil Folding Bayonet / Dagger ??
German is almost like English as far as double/alternate meanings and idioms
I believe that "Weidmanns-Heil" literally translates as "salute the feasting man".
But the [understood] "meaning" is more like [somewhat] good luck in the woods [hunting ?].
[Hoping the Hunter will bring you some of what he gets]
The Damascus Nicker I showed [mine] is new in the box [somewhere] and was made by them.
When/if I need it, it will show up
This is a "top shelf" item
If "value" was not affected [so much] by emotion/nostalgia, and other intangables it would be egual [or surpass] a Latama in REAL [practical] value
But that will NEVER happen And my appraisal is probably "generous"
This was designed to USE regularly for all hunting/camping purposes and when needed KILL something LARGE and dangerous that wanted to kill you
[Not just "impress the neighbors"]
If you were going into the woods for a month which would you want
But let's face it it lacks the WOW factor of a classic Switch.

Very traditional on Katanas etc, most unusual on a Germen Knife

What attracted me was most Weidmannsheil are pretty fancy....this one is pretty plain....celluloid scales.....not all the bells n whistles.
