A few weeks ago I posted a group photo that included a couple of Spanish Hellraisers. At the time I had no idea what I even had, as I inherited most of the collection and still am in learning mode! But I was certain that I had another one, with fixed bolsters, and here it is. I like it a lot.
It's always been my understanding that "Hellraiser" is a specific model of knife, specifically- the Spanish swing guard featured in the movie "Hellraiser", which is how the knife got it's name.
The knife pictured above is a Spanish stiletto.
Calling that knife a "Hellraiser" would be like calling any Hubertus switchblade a "Johnny Cade", when that name is specific to a shell puller leverlock featured in the movie "The Outsiders".
There is a very interesting type of spring in there....a long coil spring off about 2,5 inches in the handle. It pulls and keeps on pulling. For some reason I can't post pics anymore.
Cool knife but not the Hellraiser knife. The character in that movie who used that knife was played by Andy Robinson, who also played Scorpio in Dirty Harry. He didn't handle a switchblade in that movie, but Clint Eastwood's character Dirty Harry, stabbed him in the leg with a 28 cm picklock.
You're right. The hellraisers do have a kickspring and a folding guard. These As shown above) are spanish stiletto's, not branded and with a long pulling spring. It came in more varieties. There"s also one with a folding guard shaped like the guard of a Korean Rizzy. Real hellraisers have the push button more to the middle of the handle. Going on hollidays in Spain in the early eaghties you could by them by the dozen.
