new on the forum and new to collecting switchblades.my hobby is mainly surplus weapons and starting to get into old school autos.
my question is this:
is there a easy way to tell from real horn from Imitation Horn (fake forn)
i don't want to use a hot needle as it might put a hole in the handle
is there a trick to it,

Re: question on Imitation Horn
Welcome, If possible post pictures. True horn looks more organic then plastic. Look at enough and you will know. The only one that is hard to tell is Stag Horn. There is some pretty good imitation Stag Horn.
I tend to believe these are real because of who made them. George Cameron
I am not sure if these are real or imitation. Maybe someone can help me out.

Re: question on Imitation Horn
I too would tend to believe the same as you Thom, if George Cameron made them, the stag is very likely real

Re: question on Imitation Horn
Those two stags are real stag. Imt stag tends to be of the same thickness and is always a bit thicker then some stag can be. You can always tell Imt Stag when a few examples are side by side of the same model as the mold is the same only the colors differ.
On horn it can be harder to tell. Horn is HAIR and it you look the the ends where it meets the bolsters you can often see the levels of hair.I mt horn is almost always a black or dark base and grey and white streaks. The lighter colors are all real horn, and solid sections of a color on the handle tend to be a sign of real horn too. when you see enough real vs Imt is gets easy to tell on 99% of them...
