about 40 years ago my first switch was one just like it. Carried the thing for a couple years as a teenager until I finally lost it. Have owned a few more over the years but still bugs me what happened to that first one.

Being a teenager you probably put it down somewhere and another teenager picked it up.

That's actually a WW2 M-2 paratrooper knife. The bail has been removed.

Bill , have these metal handled Presto knives ever really been authenticated as an M2 Military issued knife ? last I recall the speculation points to post war or civilian market on these …. the black plastic type have been bonafide but not sure about this model?

No, it has never been fully authenticated as far as I know.
Nor has it been debunked.
If they were produced during the war, there is no reason to think they were not issued- as the known M-2s were the same as civilian production knives.
Perhaps Shursnap has more information on production times.

Until I do is proven fact I always like to side with caution and says “possibly” or “might have been” otherwise is great repeated as fact and baseless...

True ….but ( as far as I know) only the bone handled ones cross between issue and civilian, the Black plastic ones were never civilian but who really knows.
