You would have to incorporate some kind of electronics into it for it to work. Google search "double action otf mechanism" and you will see why.

I read the book but never saw the movie The Outsiders... there's got to be a switchblade in that. How can there not be?

I'll watch short circuit 2 again. I think one of Los Locos might have had one.

Either Chinatown or The Two Jakes, Roman Polanski opens the side of Jack Nicholson's nose with an Italian.

I don't recall whether or not there was one in Terminator or T2.

Theres quite a few in The Outsiders.
Heres a quik preview, I pirated one of Chads videos and put music.
Also the punch it shows Patrick Swayze throw on the Soc ( The Soc's letter jacket is the actual school jacket from the town the movie was filmed in and about) was real and knocked the hometown actor down.
A later interview revealed the guy hit Patrick a little hard and Patrick did'nt mean to actually hit him back, or at least as hard as he did. ( )
Great movie, see it if you can.

Just locked my phone searching. I have a web browser I can see a couple images on a webpage with, and one I can see most with. One's feature poor, the other is unstable.

I haven't been able to see a pic of the insides of one yet, but looking at the outside I see two ways to make it work with a button, with no changes to the internals. Once I see the internals, I can redesign the whole thing.

one is via a Y slot, the other uses a pin and inclined planes. Easy.

Like Jeff said, there are a few. The one that appears the most is a leverlock...

And there is a balisong in the Outsiders too...

Chinatown. Looks like another Rizzuto clone to me. I can't tell whether its one of the Koreans or one of the Taiwanese versions though...

There was one in each of them. Terminator 1 had some really cheap looking stilettos...

T2 had one that's kinda hard to make out. It looks like it might be a leverlock...

that 3rd pic from Short Circuit looks like Pedro from Napoleon Dynamite!

btb: what kind of vidcap you got?
You've obviously got quite a bit of media as well

Wasn't 'That's not a knoife, THIS is a knoife' a switch getting pulled on Dundee?

If I think about it I can name more movie blades

The episode of Peter Gunn where 'The Frog' gets offed it's done with a pearl handled switch *thrown* to the center of his back.

Lone wolf Mcquade has an otf. They tie a "bad guy" to a tree and he pulls out something like an Edge Co. d/a otf
Romancing the stone had a similar d/a otf in a few scenes,
Cobra w/ sylvester stalone had a otf,
same with The Hitcher................
