Vintage Italian Switchblade

Post by tkmb » Tue Aug 13, 2019 12:42 pm

Vintage Italian Switchblade 10'' when open.
Marked G. Piscitelli Frosolone
I am looking for some information on this knife, date of manufacturer and maker.
Does anyone have any other examples of this knife?

1920s/1930s. Maker: Gelsemino Piscitelli, Frosolone.

These used to be somewhat rare for years but the internet really opened things up and it seems like many of these are found in the USA most likely brought back by soldiers and immigrants after the World Wars. Seems you find a lot more of these in the USA than in Italy.

The 10” G Piscitelli knIves like this with plain black handles seem to be the most common. Unless exceptional and dead mint with zero blade sharpening don’t expect a ton. If the handles have a lot of white color, that will make the price go up a little.

Frosolone knives are really awesome. I love them. Knives like this one are the more common variety you’ll see but super cool nonetheless!

I see this one on fb it’s a beauty but you say if it has more colour then it’s worth more, I can see why I like the all black but some white would be great

It’s always a personal taste. Some of the really old ones look just right with all black. But a little brush of white always adds a little. The 1950s knives look just right with black/white and green/white.

And those old Maniago and S Coop. stilettos look amazing with stag!

I was contacted about it this past weekend for the lowdown bottom price of $3,000.

This spot right here is like the behind-the-ear of knife cleaning. It's a good thing to look for when trying to tell if a knife has been cleaned. The brass definitely has 90 years of tarnish but the blade has been at least polished.
