Addiction - - - How Many In Your Collection :-)
As a couple of people have pointed out collecting knives is addictive which I can totally relate to, be interested to know how many have you got in your collection and what I've potentially let myself in for ???
I'd also love to know what other addictions people have as well or if it's just knives, I've been through RC Planes for a couple of years which was all consuming to say the least ... it was the learning curve that was the addictive part ... Drums for the last 5 years and a brief stint of air guns recently and now it seems knives with an emphasis on Switch Blades.
I seem to have become "Addicted" to things I used not to have much interest in ever since I gave up smoking 7 years ago and think they're all substitutes for the dreaded weed !!!!
That said if you added all of the costs of my addictions together it'd still be way less than half what I was spending smoking and I've also enjoyed new hobbies I may not otherwise have pursued ... so over all really not a bad thing !!!!!

On knives, once I crossed 100, I lost track so somewhere around eleventy-seven gazillion! About 30 years ago I quit drinking alcohol and turned to massive amounts of coffee instead. So I made it a hobby. Now I homeroast my own coffee and usually have 60-70 lbs of green coffee beans from different regions around at any given time to feed my addiction.
The only thing I take seriously in life is death but I haven't gotten there yet!

I'd be afraid to give a number. My wife might see it.

This posting has got me curious, and although I can recall every knife I own if I think about it, I honestly don't have a number. My wife does not know either, but interestingly, my four-and-half year old daughter always notices when I have them out. She says she wants one when she is older, and the funny thing is, switchblades are the only pocket knives she has ever seen!

I keep accurate records of each knife, and it's cost.
I also have three drum kits, but that is not a hobby.
I drum in two working bands around town and get paid for that.
That is how I pay for my knives!
