Re: I am a recovering "steel snob".
Duke and I are using 1095 because it's a high carbon, simple steel, therefore easier to heat treat. We have 440C as well, but that's much more complex. Often, other factors such as blade geometry and intended use are more significant to the process than a particular material. I'll grant you that bl...

I am a recovering "steel snob".
I think that we all tend to get this way. An attitude of, "It isn't of much use unless the folding/fixed blade is at least (enter expensive steel name here)". Let's face it, we all love ATS-34, CPM-154, D2, 440C, AUS-10, AUS-8 9Cr13 even 8Cr13 steel. These are all very good and some are more afforda...

Re: Russian Prison Knife!
Frankie,
Nice knife. I like what comes from the Russian Prison population. Perhaps you can have Bill DeShivs put some real stag on it.

Just got a screamin' deal on a Schrade Sharpfinger and Dogleg Jack
I liked the deal that Blade Play had offered on the Chinese made Old Timer Sharpfinger and Dogleg Jack. Blade play is offering both in a 2016 tin (including a sheath for the Sharpfinger) For $13.99 + $3.99 shipping ($17.98) the price doesn't seem too steep. I like the 162OT Boot Knife. The 7Cr17Mov ...

Re: Any input on the Schrade 162OT Boot Knife?
It came with a "Limited Lifetime Warranty" and I took an already sharp edge and put a VERY sharp edge! So far, I am pleased. I hope that I never have to use the knife for the purpose which it was designed.
I like it.

Re: Any input on the Schrade 162OT Boot Knife?
Well, it turned out to be a reasonable value for the dollar. All I need is an "ankle sheath" to carry it into "El Rancho de Tijuana" undetected.

Re: Rizzuto estileto milano knife
That's a "Rizzy" all right. It is worth about $75.00 to whoever wants to pay that much. They will wear out quickly and have sentimental/nostalgic value.
That's about it.

Any input on the Schrade 162OT Boot Knife?
I have been looking at these Chinese 7Cr17Mov stainless steel 3.8" blade "Boot Knives" They're running about $20.50 shipped to the door. I know that: (a) The 7Cr17Mov steel holds a decent edge, but is prone to need resharpening more frequently than 1055, 1070, 1075 or 1095 steel. The upside is that ...

That's great! I like it. This is something that will see increasing popularity during this Administration. We need more "self-defense" type knives to defend ourselves against the Leftist Zombie attacks!

Is a Damascus blade suitable for a carry pocket knife?
I have been looking all over the 'net and saw that most of the online sellers describe the purpose of these pocket knives are for collection. This gave me pause to wonder about their viability for pocket carry. I know that real Damascus blades hold a good edge. Why do Blade Play and other vendors re...

The only improvement I could ask for on that knife would be a flat grind blade.
