Just round them on the knife. It won't matter if you grind the edges off the rivets a little bit.

Brad
Lee has a job opportunity there. I'm sure he will resume knifemaking, but it may be a while.

Mr. T'T-T
Lee is a very talented maker. Everyone can't like the same style knife. Lighten up a little bit! His knives are very high quality, and he does have a master's degree in art.

Lee is moving to China, and probably won't be making knives for a while.
I would say, if you want and can afford it, jump now.

Yeah-that should work. Clean the joint as best you can, and use the flux.

Thanks for the pics! Electrical solder will not work with stainless. The solder needs to have about 4% silver content, and you must use flux.
The backspring can be filed down from the inside or outside. Make sure the center backspring pin is a snug fit, or you could end up with blade play.

You have to remove the scales, which can be tricky. The metal tabs holding them on can break-making them unuseable. Once the scales are removed, the blade pin can be tightned. This may also fix the closing problem.

While I don't get to see many of the current knives, I hope that quality is still high. There can be lemons in any production run. I have never liked the squared off scales, but this step probably saves quite a few consumer dollars. You can always round them off-I do.

Try 0000 steel wool and WD 40 first. If this doesn't clean it, then... A popsicle stick with 600 grit sandpaper tightly wrapped around it, for a start. Sand lengthwise. Then use 1000 grit. Then use 1500 grit, then 2000. Always use the stick, and keep changing the paper to expose fresh grit. If the p...

The only advantage is that the scales can be made much thinner.

Big Ed Protecting any idea or design can cost a lot of money. You could have an attorney draw up a confidentialiy agreement, and show the design to a manufacturer. If interested, they would probably copyrite the idea. This still doesn't mean that copies won't be made in the Orient. There is no way t...

Natch
You can try cold blue. It is available at gun shops, Walmart. The bluing should not do too much on stainless, but will quickly color NS black. It should polish off.

Forum kit knife assembly

While I'm thinking about it..... Make sure you trial assemble your knife before putting it together. These knives can be imprecisely made. If the backspring sits high in the opened position, carefully file down the top of the blade tang. One or two strokes should do it. The spring should be even wit...
