Re: Walt's 23cm

Thanks for posting this Thom. Certainly the availability of this run of 9"ers has been a bit of mystery. The numbers on the French Tip Horn goes to 32, and only 3 in stock? This is the first I've seen ANY French Tip. They don't seem to be flying off the shelves at PVK. Luke: I'm hoping the ones you ...

Re: "Older" Swinguards

Jeff: Beautiful examples you have! Thanks for posting them. Never get tired of the older swinguards. As I had originally started this thread looking to pin down the makers, I conclude that's near impossible. Is your "IRN NICROSTENDE" stamp a maker or importer?

...as Sammy suggested. The Lightning comes in white. Also, the AKC F-16 comes in white. Cream colored may be tough.

Re: Recommendation for first OTF Stiletto

Hi Dave. Might you be confused between a Stiletto and an OTF? The closest I've seen that's an OTF that looks like a Stiletto would be a BURN made piece. I'm not familiar with any OTFs made by Frank Beltrame.

Re: "Older" Swinguards

Thanks Jeremy. Great examples there. I guess it really doesn't matter that no maker's stamp be placed on knives from Maniago. Even with modern production of today's stamped pieces, seems we never really know how many hands the piece has passed through to get to us. The maker's stamp seems to be the ...

Ahh, okay. Got it Jeremy and thanks. I figured these to be Italian made, just threw me at the 1959 German patent. So, these generic stamps can mean ANY Italian maker?

Thanks Charlie and Jeremy. I had (naturally) never even considered possible German production. Very interesting.

"Older" Swinguards

Hi all...I was wondering...We know about the makers of the more modern swinguards by their stamp. Commonly: A.G.A. Campolin's 13", Frank Beltrame's 11" and AKC's 9". But, so many of the "older" swinguards (1960's?), usually are just generic stamps such as: INOX, ROSTFREI, MADEINITALY, PATENT, etc..W...

Amazing Barb! I (we) have seen some beautifully polished stainless steel and these are great examples. All the stainless steel bolsters in my collection, turn that rather ugly gray (grey?) color. I wish I knew how to mirror shine them anywhere near your examples. Really nice!

Re: SWEET PAIR of Buck 110's Customized By Joe Kelly

Beautiful Barb! Super sweet scales. Are the bolsters really stainless? They have that "golden tone" like nickel/silver gets. They sure can polish stainless up nice! (I've often wondered how they polish stainless up to such a shine).

I'm not very familiar with the Buck/Buck Auto line, but that one you did with the guards looks great Jeremy.

Re: Walt's Latama MOP
I have Nickel Silver bolsters on my 9" Walt's Flatguard picklock, and filework. I thought maybe it came that way from the factory...but now I wonder if it was rescaled in Brazilion Horn by someone, and the NS bolsters added... :? :| :?:
Barb, I'm fairly sure that all Walt's (most?) ...
