Re: Antique TOMAHAWKS

Hopefully a positive identification will come along with time. Northern New England has been the ancestral home for some 380+ years so I can definitely appreciate the humor involved in your response. Many nautical weapons were Japanned in those days to inhibit rust. Slush, or fat from the cook...

Re: Antique TOMAHAWKS

It will be interesting to read what the owner of the site will tell you about them. You know what they say about opinions though. http://www.vikingsword.com/vb/showthread.php?t=28106 I might posit that at least one of them could possibly be a boarding axe from ye olden daze of the age of fighting sa...

Re: help needed info on dagger

It's a Koummya, Moroccan or possibly Algerian; yours looks to be WW2 or earlier. A lot of these came home with the troops who were deployed in North Africa. The higher quality ones can cost well into the few hundred plus range and are sought after. The larger straight bladed version shown is known a...

Re: WTB Pro-tech Left Handed

No luck there; I checked Walt's site and no lefty Godsons either.
PM me if anyone's got one.
My Missus has a little Ruger 380 to cc, but I'd like her to have a little something extra just in case.

Re: What era is this dagger!

I was thinking Filipino. The '|X||' file work is often seen on the spine of knives and bolos of non-Moro Filipinos.
Could be from the late 19th or early 20thC.

Re: Another Fake AKC

I've always wondered about the manufacturing process of the Italian cutlers compared to the Chinese methods of manufacture. Are the Italian Cutlers doing piece work where an individual worker assembles and fits all the rough components into a finished knife; or is the work done on an assembly line w...

Re: Real Damascus or etched'

The term 'Damascus" gets bandied about a lot these days. Mostly these days it refers to blades that are pattern welded as Jerry says. Some of the best pattern welders are from Java and Madura (first picture). Then we have Wootz or crucible steel. The late Al Pendray made an enlightening video on the...
