Re: vintage mini butterfly knife

I think it's Filipino and pretty old.

Below is a Batangas Balisong most likely manufactured in the city of Taal where there are a zillion mom and Pop cutlery makers.
It's the Rambo style blade.

Re: Latama v Frank B

I've got two Frank B's, one was a rescale that I bought at sharper deals, the other has abalone scales and a safety, I'm not sure, but I think it came from AIK. Both function well (I wish I had a safety on the rescale), open with a very good snap and are straight with no play up down or sideways whe...

Re: Refresh old horn scales?

Try some 0000 steel wool (don't bear down on it too hard. Then a dremel with a felt wheel and little polishing compound. After that some wax (I use renaissance) then a hand polish.
Picture is of a late 50's Eig thatI got from a parole officer that had it in his drawer for 40 odd years.

Re: Blackboard Jungle picklock

Mumbledy Peg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4XHqC9W2a8&t=87s We used to play this version during recess in grade school in the 50's. It was no big deal, just fun. No playground monitors cared. We lived by the shore; in Summer we kids always had an inexpensive Mora sheath knife that you bought from...

Re: can we talk akc knives, please.

"For some, the blades are manufactured in Italy, whilst the remainder of the knife is manufactured in Hong Kong--thus, the two countries. The country of origin is up-to-date and verified as we receive all of the product directly from the manufacturer." Yeah, right.... Chinese are buying blades made ...

Re: can we talk akc knives, please.

That knife is definitely sharpened on the wrong side unless it's meant to use like a Korambi or a Jambiya.
It would definitely be awkward to stab with, which iirc stilettos are meant to be used for.

Re: AKC Roma - Clarification of Origin

This is one of the reasons that I have been buying Maniago knives that I'm fairly confident of their origin.
I'm not at all interested in giving any of my $$ to China; I know it's not much of a loss to them, but I'm tired of everything being outsourced to them.

We've had a bit of weather here on the sandbar.
Spirits are still high but the tide has gone out.
Let the festivities begin!

Merry Christmas to you all!
