Re: Dagger or mini-sword?
Dave Thats a great looking dagger. 8) Deadly blade and really good looking. Love the camel bone spacers and handle ,plus its a fair old size . First class workmanship again. I used to follow an American maker called Bill Moran ,he made old world stillettos and daggers like this in the 60s and 70s an...

Re: Unknown switchblade
Yes Jim It sold on French ebay and It may have been even more than i quoted but i know it was definitely around 300 . I dont think it was in good working order either. I can also see it needs a new rear bolster making and it needs to be engraved like the rest ,plus then needing resoldering back to t...

Re: Can you help ID this sword?
Swords are great Jim. You can pick them up reasonably sometimes and some are beautifully etched. I have some from 1796 right up to ww1 most without scanbards unfortunately but all are interesting and well made weapons used in war . I love Samurai swords but they are getting expensive now and im stic...

Re: Can you help ID this sword?
Jim
Here are some examples of german swords.
The last by horster is similar to your example.
I believe this pattern was used in the franco prussian war of 1870 onwards and ww1 ,ww2.
I surmise it wouldnt be cutdown in ww2 so its 1870s -1918 trench knife or dirk.
Cool anyway
Regards

Re: Can you help ID this sword?
Jim Firstly I love the U.S cavalry sabre cut down.I'll bet that could tell some stories if it could talk. The sheath is nice also and looks period. The better picture on the sword we are trying to pin down shows me this handle is bound in shagreen ,common as a sword grip covering, stopped sweaty or bl...

I've seen this hilt on european cavalry swords from 200 years ago. What's the hilt made from,is it painted wood,or shagree...
