Re: Ethan 1953 Italy
I believe Ethan was an import by Latama, but remember, Latama was/is not a knife maker. Just importer.

It is a pretty knife, and I'd love to see the markings. Blade etched? W. Germany, Germany?

Oh, that's great news, Bill! I'll send you a proper email and we can discuss when you'll be able to fit me in. Thanks so much!Bill DeShivs wrote: ↑Sat Mar 30, 2024 5:44 pm Nah- that hole can be filled. It might show a tiny bit, but should look OK.
Or, we can add a bail!

Puma Medici Mayhem
Hi Bill...It's a long shot, but have to ask. I don't suppose these Puma Medici manuals actually have a smoothed over bottom bolster pin, do they? I saw the knife before looking at my other 3 and thought: "Gee, that's just missing the bottom bolster pin. Bill can fix that!" After I bought it, was whe...

Re: Campolin prototipo
Like Bill said, made by Renzo Pascotto for A.G.A. Campolin. Odd how he wrote prototype in Italian on some of his knives and English on others.

Re: Abalone How Do They Do It
As I'm not a fan of thr prmary green color of abalone, I have quickly learned to never buy any without seeing it first. But, when the colors lean more towards the purple, pinks and blues, I find it gorgeous. I know the shells must come/grow much bigger, because I can't imagine much use coming from t...

Re: Abalone How Do They Do It
Does the same apply to mother of pearl ? I have a couple of old victorian and Edwardian fruit knives and it looks like 1 solid piece . Hi Ian, hope all is well! I have heard the term "slab" of Mother of Pearl and/or Abalone when referring to knife handles. Maybe it does exist, but in my mind, that ...
