Re: Movie Switchblades

Heviarti, That is too funny!! It actually looks like Murdock is carefully holding the extended barrel with the fake Uzi piece to the Mac-10, like they just used Elmer's Glue to connect them. And the back piece looks like it's just strapped on with electric tape or black duct tape. I guess they never...

Re: FRANK B BLACKFINGER 777 ?

It's not too much trouble to make a broken one-piece spring a two piece. I do it often. So do you just kind of file it down right at the fork where the spring diveges from the back spring, assuming the spring broke somewhere above that? I actually think I have a knife that someone did that to. It's...

Re: Italian single action otf

Hello guys i have bought it but iam waiting for it to arrive :D and will post some some proper pix :!: I too have an interesting knife coming in the mail (should be tomorrow). I'm not too sure about it but I decided to buy it; it's the closest thing to gambling that I do. It's also the only thing t...

Re: FRANK B BLACKFINGER 777 ?

Properly made two-piece. Well, the properly made part was supposed to be a given. I would think the two-piece would be favorable because, if a one-piece breaks, you've got a real problem. Although, it seems like most quality Italian stilettos have one-piece springs (though I can't be sure about tha...

Re: Movie Switchblades

I can just see the meeting between the prop guy and the producer thirty years ago: "No, we don't need an M-16; just put a handle on top of that Sturmgewehr and it'll be fine. The things gonna be on screen for three seconds; it's not like anyone is ever going to examine each frame of the movie. No on...

Re: FRANK B BLACKFINGER 777 ?

When this happens, the geometry of the spring becomes screwed up-bending it where it isn't supposed to bend
Do you prefer a two-piece or one-piece spring?

Re: FRANK B BLACKFINGER 777 ?

plus, as is well known now, the kick springs on Hubertus knives from that era were rubbish and probably not properly tempered.
I see Hubertuses with broken springs all the time. I don't know if they were all made around the same time but they definitely have some spring issues at the Hub factory.

Re: Movie Switchblades

has anyone seen the MAC-10 dressed up to look like an Uzi on MagnumN That I'd love to see. Do you happen to know what episode it was in? Or even what the episode was about? If you remember the general plot I can probably find it on imdb. Of course, the plots were pretty similar from show to show.

Re: looking for 5 1/2" classic stilettos with a flat ground

Surely he means the color of the scales. The 4" key chain stiletto is cheap and common but I'm sure you're looking for a quality knife. Unfortunately, while they are out there, Italian stilettos under 7" are pretty rare, and usually expensive. I do have one bit of advice, however: if you're checking...

Hi Guy's , I store my side opening knifes open , I dont know if that's right ? How about an out the front like this ? Thanks Vince Hello, Vince. The way I store my double action OTFs is in the neither position. Just point it at the carpet or your shoe and fire it so it doesn't open all the way. Tha...

Re: Movie Switchblades

Here are a few stills from The Cross and The Switchblade. Man, Pat Boone is such a corny actor. I'm sure I missed a few. It looks like the cheap-ass producers used the same trap-door in multiple scenes. I'm not sure if the blade above the tombstone is an auto; I doubt it is. There is also a knife in...

Re: Movie Switchblades

I don't think the general public cares one way or the other about switchblades today and the widepread and acceptable use of other one-handed knives in recent years proves this. My manual Benchmade Axis lock opens as easily as a switchblade. While there are auto-utility knives and assisted-openers ...

Re: Movie Switchblades

The book's title really does reveal how much SBs were demonized. I've often used "The Cross and The Switchblade" as an example when talking about how badly demonized automatic knives have been. The Cross is often used as a symbol for good. And for the symbol for evil, the diametric opposite of good...
