Re: tang stamp "6"
Angelo Campolin, Sr. was the production manager for Mauro Mario. Whether there was a MM manufactory, I don't know. Perhaps the brothers were simply contractors. Perhaps Campolin made their knives. I have not researched this. There are some who have, but they guard their information because they thi...

Re: tang stamp "6"
The stamp was used by Cleveland Cutlery Co. but that is all I know. I don't believe Mauro Mario, who were two brothers, actually made knives and they contracted with one of the shops to make knives for them.

Re: Three Shur Snaps
I remember when Steve Paolantonio of Colonial came to the Blade Show with a big box of Shur Snaps that were left over when they were outlawed in 1958. The knives were filthy and dry. I took him a tube of Simichrome polish and some oil and showed him how to clean the knives up. They were actually mi...

Re: Sharper Deals auction site gone?
I hate to hear that but am not surprised because the site had been dead for a while and I could never log back on after forgetting my password. It was once the go-to place for buying and selling antique switchblades. The older Italian knives have gotten harder to find unless you are willing to pay h...

Re: Over shooting
I have a Japanese picklock that does that because of a back spring that is too weak and does not seat properly. Not sure if that can be repaired.

Re: C Jul Herbertz switchblade
Jim, I thought it interesting considering the Swiss gun culture too, but then again, look at the U.S. Until recent years, there were many states that had lenient gun laws that completely banned switchblades. I guess knives are just scary to politicians and until Knife Rights and AKTI, there weren't ...

Re: I ordered the Kershaw Launch 17 this morning.
I have the Launch 12 in my EDC rotation. It's a great little knife that is perfect for anything I need a knife for.

Re: C Jul Herbertz switchblade
Very nice! I've always wondered why they put a blade that belongs on an 8" knife, into a 9" handle. I DO understand the German regulation on blade length, but why not just put the 8" knife blade into the appropriate 8" knife handle (so the blade fills the well, instead of being "short") ? The only ...

I once had a Japanese picklock with that stamp and I have seen it a few other times. I think it's on Japanese knives only.

Re: Latama 11inch pick lock 1950s
The forums are not nearly as active as they once were and I agree it's mostly older guys 50 and up who participate. I'm surprised the sharper deal forum and auction pages are still up because both have been almost dead for a while. Lots of collectors have moved to the Facebook pages which I don't li...

Re: Hellraiser
Cool knife but not the Hellraiser knife. The character in that movie who used that knife was played by Andy Robinson, who also played Scorpio in Dirty Harry. He didn't handle a switchblade in that movie, but Clint Eastwood's character Dirty Harry, stabbed him in the leg with a 28 cm picklock.

Re: Latama v Frank B
I've never owned a Walt's Latama, but they are overpriced IMO. You can get a 1950s picklock in the same price range and sometimes less if you are patient. If I wanted to buy a new stiletto, I would go for the standard Frank B which costs less than $200.

Re: New guy
It was made in Taiwan. There were many of those around in the 1990s. I had one just like it but with different colored scales I got from a guy who bought it in Mexico circa 1992-1993.
