Re: Mexican marked switchblade

I suspect that some light sanding on the horn would make it look nice again. The rest of the knife looks just as it should after all these years with some use. It has great character, and would be a shame to do too much cleaning on it.

Re: Other Collector Associations....?

I do have many long time switchblade collectors who are members of my Old Switchblade Knives group as well as many newer collectors and potential collectors. There are a lot of switchblade sales happening in the groups on Facebook now. I just bought a large collection of vintage Italian switchblades...

Re: Other Collector Associations....?

I have a facebook group called Old Switchblade Knives. I have nearly 5000 members and it's a calm, non-political place to talk about old switchblades. Been going for over 4 years and growing bigger every day. We try to keep the buying and selling "on the downlow", but it's there all the time. Lots o...

Re: Curious

There is certainly blade loss due to sharpening, but the blade is still close to 90% full and though it reduces the value, the knife is still probably worth at least $200 being a Robert Klaas Kissing Crane and being vintage as long as it works properly and the blade tip doesn't peek much, if any whe...

Re: 13 1950s Corsicama

An average condition 13" Coricama can be had for $1000, or so. I have seen a couple in Near Mint condition sell for $2000-2500, but I have never heard of one selling for more than that.... until now. That's my experience of 40 years of collecting switchblades and working on three switchblade books. ...

Re: old frosolone? pick lock knife

Definitely Frosolone and most likely from the 1940s. These usually sell in the $800-1200 in good used condition, which this one is. Some collectors might pay a little more for it. It's a nice old knife.

Re: schrade cut. co. double switchblade

It is indeed the largest of the three different sizes of double switchblades that Schrade made. The medium measures 3 3/8" closed and the smallest measures 2 7/8" closed. The value depends upon several different criteria, but mostly on rarity and collector interest. The most important factor in grad...

Re: Why is it so hard to find this knife?

The knife that you had was most likely and Edgemaster. The Colonial knives didn't have a very wide range of colors after they started adding bolsters in the early 50's. I definitely have had some in that color, and MAY still have one. I will check and see.

Re: Movie Switchblades

Hi, I just picked up an interesting movie prop switchblade that leaves a trail of blood as it moves! It's hand made by a movie prop department and measures 11" long. It looks like a 90's Italian bolster release stiletto and does not fold. I don't know what movie it might have been from, but I'd sure...

Re: Movie Switchblades

They bought it from me. I offered to buy it back, but they didn't even reply. I was supposed to get an autographed movie "still" of Halle with the knife, but somehow that never happened... :( I've been in contact with a couple of other "movies in progress" to supply a switchblade, but unfortunately ...

Re: Movie Switchblades

2012 CLOUD ATLAS with Tom Hanks and Halle Berry. Halle is attacked in her apartment and she pulls out... of all things a 1950's Colonial Cigar Jack switchblade to use against her attacker (all of SIX inches open). Ironically, I provided the knife for the movie, but they didn't tell me the specifics ...

He was a fixture in the World of Collecting Automatic Knives and he will be missed. I still remember how jealous I was when he told me about the shoe box full of vintage switchblades that he found at an estate sale! That was one of those "Once in a lifetime" finds and now.... I'm glad that he...

Re: Hammer Brand won't fire

I don't blame you. It's not such a bad issue for the knife to have. I sometimes offer a discount to forum members for my book. If you'd like I'd sell you an autographed copy for $26 including Priority shipping and would be happy to personalize it any way you like. Have you seen my website? www.antiq...

Re: New Reference Book - Canceled

Hi Guys, Sorry I didn't find this post sooner, but haven't been online as much as I'd like to. Just wanted to chime in on the success of books on this subject. As many of you know I am the author of Antique American Switchblades which was published by Krause in 2004. I can tell you that the book def...
