ExamonLyf, I had always heard/read the hackmans were issued in the Vietnam timeframe. Bob Hi.., yeah I've heard that also (re: Viet Nam). In fact I've heard it more than once, but can't verify that it's true. I was in Viet Nam (late 60's).., in the Marine Corps, and never saw one over there. That o...

Turned out pretty well for just goofing around without research IMO.... For guys that want to try it in the future.., I'd suggest driving around to some machine shops and see if they can give you a few scraps of 6AL4V to goof around with (just stuff they are going to dump). It's commonly used in the...

Yeah pretty good knife actually.., but not good for "flippery" really... Don't see 'em much now.., but it is true some were issued to the CIA back in the 80's.....heard it straight from a very reliable source. I don't know what the heck they'd do with 'em...lol??? Seems a bit odd since they can carr...

As John mentions (Navajo).., the sheaths BM currently contracts for are pretty much junk, and personally, I think that's a big marketing mistake given a history of very serviceable sheaths. The best sheaths they contracted for (BM never made them) were in the mid-PCC era, and I have some I used for ...

I think the Typhoon holds up great actually. I have broken (1).., but just seeing how much it can take. ~~> Meaning extreme abuse. No doubt the best using production knife for the money if you really want to cut quite a bit, and I'd rate it "OK" for flipping durability (although I haven't put let's ...

Oops - 12C27 Well.., they also haven't made the 42 in Sandvik 12C27 for a loooooooong time (440C)..., but they are relatively close steels in composition. I'd always agree with getting a BM first I guess, simply because all the Balisong nuts owe the company some respect for keeping us on the playin...
