Re: Alaskan Guide knife

Straight razor. That's what the blade's grind is similar to. I wish I'd been able to access that when I was so poorly describing it in the previous post. Of course it's not THAT thin, but same concept.

Re: Alaskan Guide knife

Those do look like handy, practical knives, Ian. On my thread titled "my favorite fixed blades" there are pictured two Schrade pieces, essentially the same model in different blade lengths. They would be my go-to picks, most likely the 5". Blade thickness is 1/4" or 6mm. The sheaths include a diamon...

Re: Alaskan Guide knife

Ian, my concern is the blade holding up under rough use . It goes from about 4mm at the spine to very thin very quickly into the width. From the cutting edge back about half way in it's not much heavier than a utility blade.

Alaskan Guide knife

I nearly forgot I had this blade. Not my favorite but I do like the lines and how it fits my hand. The handles are black micarta with a nice contour. Tang etching is Browning logo. China on reverse side. Very sharp right out of the box.

Re: help with Top automatic otf knife

I believe this might be one. It's mine, from a sale/trade with another member. I'll try to get around to removing the cover and snap a pic to show the guts in correct placement and complete. Most likely what's missing in our new friend's knife is one or both release levers.

Re: My daggers

That would make a good spear point, Ian. Wonder if the sheath is crocodile skin, being from Egypt. Or maybe even hippo?

I see the green in the top one (second picture). I don't see anything wrong with any of them. You're too modest, Tom. Very impressive work.

Squire, go to full editor and preview. For some reason you can still upload larger pictures with that. I just recently had the same issue.

Re: You might want to get one of these

I can't do it either, Sammy. Of course I'm only taking the time to go from 400 grit to 1000. That gets them sharp enough to cut printer paper cleanly. That's good enough for me. I hardly use them anyway because I always have this thing with me. The only other one I use regularly is my Huusk kitchen ...

Re: You might want to get one of these

You're right, Sammy. You have to be careful, but really that goes for handling any blade. I keep my "users" pretty damn sharp.
