Re: Want to buy a Laguiole "Extra" auto

I’m always learning something new everyday about the knife hobby but I don’t believe this was an intentional design flaw. As the inside of the knife well shows where the scales have overlapped past the brass liners. The scales have lost some of their curve and started to straighten out. Just my opin...

Very nice start to your German collecting, Chris. I have a few but Italian & French knife collecting are keeping my wallet empty.

Re: Want to buy a Laguiole "Extra" auto

Chris’ looks great. All the ones with original scales I seem to come across, the scales have shrunk drastically. Thanks for the kind words Chris. The knife is in very good condition considering the scale warping issue. They should have fitted a center pin, but I have a feeling that the warping didn...

Re: Want to buy a Laguiole "Extra" auto

Looking for a Laguiole " Extra" auto with brass bolsters, black acrylic scales, brass etched liners and a n/s rectangular button. Safety is rectangular brass. The marking Laguiole Extra is on the blade with what looks like a crossbow. Mint condition not essential but.should be in good working condi...

Re: Vintage Swinguards

That's a great looking Frank B picklock, Jackalope. Excellent horn. Here's the only one I have. It's a 2007 limited edition 9'' w/stag scales. Got it at a local knife show around 2010 or so.

Re: Vintage Swinguards

I will agree w/you Jackalope on the knife differences. Although, Beltrame limited picklocks are very sweet. I’m always on the lookout for those. Let me know if you come across any of those that you don’t have an interest in.

Re: Vintage Swinguards

Chris51P, I have a Medici style which is the identical twin of yours except the stamp is just the letters "AKC" over "ITALY" which I bought in late 2003. I was laid off in Oct 2003 and remember celebrating my layoff by buying that knife and a few others :D Jim Hey Jim - It may be that the Campolin ...

Re: Vintage Swinguards

Hey Jackalope... Looks like I sold your twin back in May of 2018. Wish I had that one back. Mine was an 11" stag AKC also. Sold it on eBay before someone tried to get it taken off. By the way, you vintage swinguards are very, very nice. Most excellent!

Re: Vintage Swinguards

Question: Does anyone know of the years of production gap in the Italian swinguards? Seems they were first produced such as these in the 1960's with flat grind blades, "D" stamped, NS hardware. But, when were swingers re-introduced? I've never heard of 1970's or '80's swingers (that I'm aware of). ...

Re: Vintage Swinguards

Very nice collection of older swinguards, JV. It's the older ones that are hard to come by, especially when they're small and scaled in stag. Most excellent.
